Many Australian companies have fallen prey to scammers who have hacked a supplier’s email account, then sent an email to customers advising of a change in bank account details, or intercepting an invoice and changing the payment details on it before resending the email. In short, it’s worth checking by phone if any changes to payment details are legitimate, no matter who the email comes from!
